WATER SONG

Water is a chameleon, changing form
as a lovely woman changes her dress.

Dropping, showering as rain, cold or warm
alternating, like a wayward goddess.
Crashing in cataract or raging storm,
babbling, trickling, or gurgling to caress
smooth pebbles and stones in brooks. Deiform
drowsily sleeping in ponds a temptress
to giggling children who happily swarm,
joyfully splash, paddle. She sighs to bless
with open arms. Beware, the siren form
may draw you down, to darker deeper depths.
